Cameron Shamsabad

Overview

Cameron was called to the Bar in September 2025, having been admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales in 2019.

Before coming to the Bar, Cameron served as Tipstaff to the Hon. Justice Sandra Duggan of the Land and Environment Court of New South Wales. He subsequently practiced for several years as a solicitor in a generalist litigation practice, appearing and instructing in matters before the Supreme Court of New South Wales, the Federal Court of Australia, and other State and Federal jurisdictions.

In 2019, Cameron was awarded the CEFA Governor-General’s Prize in Constitutional Law, receiving the George Winterton Cup from a judging panel that included the Hon. Geoffrey Nettle AC KC and the Hon. Marilyn Warren AC KC.

Cameron maintains a broad practice with a focus on commercial, corporate and equity disputes. He also has a developing interest in public law, including constitutional and administrative law, and matters involving questions of public interest.

Cameron holds a Bachelor of Laws from Western Sydney University and a Master of Administrative Law and Policy from the University of Sydney. He later completed a Master of Laws at George Mason University in Virginia, where he focused on developing a comparative understanding of U.S. law. Cameron is currently undertaking doctoral research at Bond University under the supervision of Professor Jonathan Crowe. His thesis examines constitutional interpretation and federalism, with particular emphasis on the original public meaning of the Australian Constitution.

He is a member of the New South Wales Bar Association and the Sir Samuel Griffith Society.
